BARCELONA – Bad news hit Barcelona ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window in January 2022. The reason is, Xavi Hernandez’s team is reportedly unable to buy players following a critical financial condition.

Based on the IB Times page, Friday (11/19/2021), Barcelona President Joan Laporta admitted that the Club’s resources had reached an absolute limit. So it can’t force spending during the next winter transfer window.

Though reportedly they have a number of targeted players. Even if they want a purchase, Barcelona will have to release some of the valuable players they have.

Still in the same report, Laporta is actually eyeing three potential new players. On the other hand, he also boldly claims that it does not rule out the return of other Barcelona legends such as Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta.

Maybe that could happen if they made the economic sacrifices of Dani Alves, who has returned to the club with the lowest salary package of his team-mates. Alves’ salary is only £480,000 or approximately Rp9.2 billion per week.

Barcelona CEO Mateu Alemany insists that the current situation makes signing new players impossible. However, they are still looking for a solution at least until early January.

“There is still a month and a half and we are working on different situations. As of today, there is no possibility of signing in January. On (date) one? We’ll see,” he said during Alves’ presentation last Wednesday as quoted by Marca.
