Biden hosted Southeast Asian leaders while trying to focus on China

Mr Biden will also travel to Japan and South Korea between May 20 and May 24, focusing mainly on China. White House officials did not give any details about the visit, but said they were expected to meet with other leaders from four countries, India, Japan and Australia.

On Thursday, leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will meet with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers at a hotel in Washington before discussing business opportunities with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and US industry officials. Mr Biden plans to host the leaders at the White House on Thursday night, an administration official said.

On Friday, the Asian leader met with Vice President Kamala Harris and Foreign Secretary Anthony J. Meet Blinken.

According to the administrative official, the panel will discuss trade opportunities, transportation through disputed waterways and other issues, including the South China Sea.

It is possible that Aung San Suu Kyi was one of the members of a group that was ousted as Myanmar’s civilian leader during a military coup last year. “The United States and other countries in the region are watching the situation and are frustrated,” he said.
