China’s “air taxi” makes the first cross-city flight and eVTOL industrialization takes a step forward

Amidst the applause and cheers of nearly a hundred guests attending the ceremony, two electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) took off from Shenzhen Shekou Pier at 5 pm on the 27th. After circling over Shenzhen Bay, one of them returned and the other took off. Heading to Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port Terminal, 50 kilometers away, we disembarked smoothly after 20 minutes.

Shanghai First Financial Daily reported that the current traditional transportation method between the two locations is by boat or car, which takes more than 70 minutes and 2 hours respectively.

Zhao Qi, chairman of Shenzhen Low Altitude Economic Industry Association and president of Shenzhen Eastern General Navigation, said that once conditions are mature, the company is looking forward to opening an eVTOL manned commercial operation route between Shenzhen and Zhuhai, and opening more routes in the future. hopefully. ,

Zhao Qi said that after achieving large-scale operation, the one-way market price from Shenzhen to Zhuhai will be about 200 to 300 yuan per person (about NT$880 to 1,320 yuan). The current ticket price between Shenzhen Shekou and Zhuhai Jiuzhou is RMB 140 per person (about NT$616), and the long-distance bus ticket is about RMB 100 per person (about NT$440).

This is the first public demonstration flight of the world’s first cross-sea and cross-city eVTOL route, and the eVTOL industry regards it as a milestone in the development of low-altitude economy. After rapid development in recent years, eVTOL manned flight is getting closer and closer to commercialization, and the RMB trillion-level future industry no longer looks like a castle in the air.

The demonstration aircraft is the 5-seater eVTOL Shengshilong independently developed by Shanghai Fengfei Aviation Technology. Its take-off weight is 2,000 kg, it can carry 5 people, and its cruising speed is up to 200 kilometers per hour. Core modules are 100% localized in China.

The flight route is operated by Shenzhen Eastern General Aviation. The two sides have signed a purchase order for 100 Fengfei Shengshilong aircraft and plan to promote more route operations and commercialization scenarios.

EVTOL, known as “air taxi”, uses pure electric power and does not require traditional airports and runways. It can take off vertically like a helicopter, and then transform into a fixed wing flight mode in the air and fly like a cruise. Big planes.

At present, many foreign giants have been involved in eVTOL research and development, including Delta Airlines.toyotaAutomobile, Boeing andTeslaOwnermuskwait.
