AARHUS – Women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung lost in the opening match of Indonesia vs Thailand in the 2020 Uber Cup quarter-finals. She felt that the defeat was because she played too safe in the last two games.

Playing at Ceres Arena, Aarhus, Denmark on Friday (10/15/2021) early morning WIB, Gregoria lost to Pornpawee Chochuwong with a score of 21-14, 10-21, and 10-21 in a duration of 62 minutes.

“Sorry I failed to contribute points. Unfortunately I didn’t play well in the second and third games,” said Gregoria as quoted from the release.

Gregoria started the match in the first game with a slick appearance. His game looks calm and his attacks make Chochuwong difficult.

On the other hand, Chocuwong often makes his own mistakes. He also looks helpless with Gregoria’s attacking pattern of play.

“Earlier in the first game I was able to control the game. My patterns were all out. I was more daring to attack and win,” said Gregoria.

But entering the second gym, Gregoria instead appeared depressed. The pattern of play that he mastered in the first gym did not come out at all in this gym.

He admits that his fast-paced playing pattern can be tempered by the slow tempo of the opponent. At that moment, Gregoria actually got carried away by the pattern of the game and tended to look for safety more.
