Ilkay Gundogan scored the opener (13′) followed by Phil Foden (28′, 31′) who scored twice. But Foden’s second goal was a shot that was shot by Jesus but hit the 21-year-old’s leg.

Jesus, who thought he was the one scoring the goal, ran and celebrated, but Foden knew the ball had hit his foot and went straight to Jesus and said ‘it hit me, it hit me’.

In the second half Manchester City struggled to add to their lead after conceding a penalty by Alexis Mac Allister (85′). But Riyad Mahrez was able to again add to Manchester City’s advantage (90+5′) in the last minute.

Foden also felt strange when the goal was his. He also felt that Jesus did not realize that the ball hit Foden’s feet before it entered the Brighton goal.

“I’m not sure I have to watch. The second one was strange, it hit me when I came in. I’ll take it all, one goal becomes a goal, “Foden said, quoted from Manchester Evening News, Sunday (24/10/2021).

“I am very happy. I don’t think he realized it. I had to tell him it hit me. He didn’t think it hit me.”

After being able to show a good performance, Foden was determined to be able to score a hat-trick in the next match. However, the player with the number 47 back said he was happy to be able to help Manchester City win.

“On another day I could have scored three goals, but the main thing is the result and I’m happy we got it today.”
