LONDON – Arsenal captain, Granit Xhaka , reportedly absent until next year due to injury. Coach Mikel Arteta denied the news.

Xhaka suffered a ligament injury severe enough that he was unable to defend Arsenal . The injury occurred when the Gunners faced Tottenham Hotspur in the 2021/2022 Premier League last September.

Arteta also emphasized that Xhaka’s condition is much better than before. The Swiss player is also expected to return to play sooner before the start of 2022.

“Hopefully sooner than expected, he’s in a good place. I hope we can get him back before the end of the year,” Arteta was quoted as saying Football London, Thursday (25/11/2021).

The Spaniard also said that the rest of Arsenal’s squad is currently in good shape. No other players were injured and the whole team will be ready for the next game.

“There is no news (of other injuries). Everyone is fine so far,” concluded the 39-year-old coach.

Arsenal are also scheduled to play against Newcastle United in the next match. The match will be held at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday (11/27/2021).

The Gunners which had slumped at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, has now shown a positive trend after getting several consecutive wins. However, this achievement was tarnished in the last match when they met Liverpool with a 0-4 defeat.
