The head of Sberbank Herman Gref assessed the risk of a bubble in consumer lending. His words are transmitted by RIA Novosti.

According to Gref, Oschadbank sees no signs of a bubble in its consumer loan portfolio, the quality of which is at a consistently high level.

“Sberbank’s credit policy is aimed at responsible lending. Each loan is issued based on the client’s financial capacity to fulfill all its obligations in a timely manner and in full without compromising the quality of life, “he explained.

Gref also stressed that at the moment there is an effect of deferred demand: people did not buy something in 2020 and are trying to buy it in 2021.

At the same time, the Bank of Russia is concerned about the growth of consumer lending in the country and is taking measures to cool it. However, Gref said that the Central Bank already has effective tools to counter the risks in the field of lending, which will allow for effective regulation when the preconditions for the formation of a bubble in the retail lending market.

Earlier, Gref listed the most important modern technologies. Among them, in his opinion, include artificial intelligence, quantum computing, the sixth generation of 6G mobile communications and unmanned vehicles.
