NUSA DUA – Hawkeye technology in the semifinal match Indonesia Masters 2021 has harmed the Indonesian Men’s Doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo . The controversial incident sparked the anger of Danish badminton player Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, Saturday (20/11/2021).

Rasmussen also protested to Badminton World Federation (BWF). The incident began when the Minions opponent – Marcus / Kevin – from Malaysia, Ong Yew Sin / Teo Ee Yi asked the referee for a challenge when the score was at 20-18 for their advantage.

After that, the referee granted their request to review the ball. Unexpectedly, the Hawkeye technology used even decided the service was on the line. Even though it is very clear from the replay on the glass layer that the ball is far from the line.

Then, the referee made a decision according to the review conducted by Hawkeye. As a result, Ong/Teo closed the first game with a 21-18 advantage.

Seeing this incident, Rasmussen, who looked furious, immediately uploaded a video of the moment on his personal Instagram. He also wrote a tone of protest to BWF in the video caption.

“What the hell @bwf.official??? It happened at the set point? How can we believe in hawkeye again?,” wrote Rasmussen on his Instagram, @anders_skaarup_rasmussen, Saturday (20/11/2021).
