‘Hopefully not’ – Kevin Campbell hints at possible ‘disagreement’ between two Manchester United superstars

FA Cup winner Kevin Campbell has questioned a potential “disagreement” between Manchester United captain Harry Maguire and midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Campbell’s comments come after the Red Devils humiliated Brighton and Hove Albion 4-0 on May 7. Maguire started the game from the bench and interim boss Ralph Rangnick handed the armband to Fernandes.

The Englishman eventually came on in the 70th minute without wearing the armband, with Fernandes staying on for the rest of the game.

In a conversation with Football Insider, Campbell was asked what he would do if he were in Maguire’s position. He responded:

“If I’m on the bench, the players always give me the armband. Maguire doesn’t get a lot of playing time though, so maybe it’s something they made before the game.”

The former Arsenal striker added that he was surprised that Fernandes did not hand the armband to the club captain:

“I thought Fernandes would give the armband to Maguire, so I’m surprised he doesn’t. Will there be disagreements in the team? I hope that’s not the case.”

Campbell continued to hope for events that occurred due to the circumstances of the game.He finally thinks Maguire is not the cause of Manchester United’s problems

“I hope it’s more because they’re miserable, down 4-0, they don’t think about who gets the armband. One thing is for sure. It’s not Maguire. It doesn’t matter who you play. It might be eight at the weekend. … Brighton didn’t score many goals, they beat them 4-0. Said a lot.”

Manchester United endured a dismal season

Manchester United were underwhelming against Brighton and the result proved it. The defeat means they are now sure to end the season with their lowest ever Premier League points tally.

Even with a win in their final league clash with Crystal Palace on May 22, they could only score 61 points, three points below their 64 in 2013-14. They also conceded 56 league goals, their most in a single season.

This is higher than all teams currently occupying the top 14 of the list, with the exception of Leicester City (56) and Newcastle United (61).

Manchester United guaranteed their worst score in the Premier League after a 4-0 loss to Brighton. They also conceded more goals than any other league. For all the wrong reasons, this is historic 😨 https://t.co/6RKcrWExC9

United will leave Selhurst Park in 10 days, having won just one of their last five games and two of their last nine in all competitions.
