NUSA DUA – Jonatan Christie stated that he has more motivation to win the Indonesia Open 2021. One of them wants to end the curse of Indonesia’s men’s singles in this tournament.

Another motivation for the badminton player who was called by Jojo was because he played at home, namely at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua.

“Yes, there must be motivation in every tournament. But indeed, because this is in Indonesia and this match is like a home tournament for us, it must be a motivation for me and other friends,” said Jojo.

With that advantage, Jojo is looking to reclaim the title in the men’s singles sector, which Indonesia last won in 2012.

“Perhaps if the Indonesia Masters had already won, Ginting had won, but the last Indonesia Open was 2012, so there must be more motivation,” said Jojo.

At the Indonesia Masters 2021, the men’s singles failed miserably. But, at least there are active players who have won. Such as Tommy Sugiarto (2015) and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (2018, 2020).

But, not at the Indonesia Open. So far, no Indonesian men’s singles who are still active can win. In fact, the ultimate title was won by Simon Santoso in 2012.

“Moreover, this is a Super 1000 which is equivalent to the All England or China Open, of course there is more motivation,” he added.
