MANDALIKA – Kawasaki Racing team driver Jonathan Rea describes the Mandalika Circuit as a combination of many tracks. However, he admitted that he encountered obstacles while undergoing free practice at the 2021 WSBK Indonesia.

Indeed, Rea can improve his performance during the second free practice. He trailed Toprak Razgatlioglu in second with only 0.174 seconds behind his rival.

Whereas in the previous session (FP1), Rea was 2.401 seconds behind Toprak and only sat in 11th place. He admitted that the dirty track conditions had hampered him.

“The asphalt is very dirty, and bumpy in some areas. Especially in the first corner, when you are behind other riders. I can enjoy this track,” he said.

Despite the difficulties, the driver from Northern Ireland admitted that he was happy with the Mandalika Circuit. Moreover, some parts of the track remind him of other legendary circuits.

“The last sector is similar to Termas in Argentina. The first corner feels like Donington Park. After that, the track was like a replica of the Misano Circuit. In the middle of the circuit, his character becomes fast and can cut time,” said Rea.
