Rea has devoured the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, Indonesia on 19-21 November 2021. In the two races he has run, he managed to be the fastest.
However, Rea failed to defend the WSBK title that was won by Toprak Razgatlioglu. The PATA Yamaha rider officially became the world champion after finishing second in the first race at the Mandalika Circuit.
Despite losing the title, Rea said he was very happy to have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the Mandalika Circuit. Even though he was hampered by heavy rain, he admitted that he had felt an extraordinary race.
“It was a super day, very satisfied with it. After FP1 we faced some difficulties but to bounce back and come back to win on the wet track, on the dry track, I’m very happy,” said Rea.
“Especially for the Mandalika (Circuit) fans and getting the second race was really fun.”
The lively atmosphere created by the audience at the Mandalika Circuit made Rea excited. Even though it was raining, he said he could keep up with the speed of his rivals at the time, Razgatlioglu and Scott Redding of Aruba.it Ducati.
“I hope they will use that period after the heavy rain to say yes (to the race),” said Real again excitedly.
