MANCHESTER – Manchester United finally officially confirmed the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sunday (11/21/2021). The confirmation was conveyed through the club’s personal Instagram social media account.

“Manchester United can confirm that One Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as manager,” wrote United‘s Instagram account.

It is not yet known who will replace Solskjaer. However, technical director Darren Fletcher could be in charge soon after the second Champions League group game at Villarreal.

Fletcher is expected to be assisted by Michael Carrick. Multiple sources have confirmed to MEN this evening that United will sack Solskjaer and United are finalizing a Norwegian compensation package of around £7.75m.

For your information, Solskjaer took over as caretaker manager in December 2018 before he was appointed permanent manager three months later, having led United to 14 wins in his first 19 games as coach.

United finished third in Solskjaer’s first full season as manager and moved up to second in the following campaign, but their form has crumbled this season amid expectations of a Premier League title challenge. United have picked up four points from their last 21 in the league and they are 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
