Swing, and miss.
MLB’s attempt to join the Yankees bandwagon with a false tweet deserves a big cheer from the Bronx.
“Next stop 60,” read the photo on Twitter of sluggers Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres emerging from a graffiti-covered train. “First to win 50 games,” the caption above the photo read.
The double role of error, first spotted by the blog Hell’s Gate, has several miscalculations. First, the league did not have permission from the MTA to use traffic system signs.
Second, the train isn’t even in New York.
“MLB knows better,” said MTA spokesman Sean Butler. “Using the MTA logo requires a pre-approval and licensing process. If MLB reached out, we would point out that their graphics included the Chicago skyline, not New York City, two of the best balls in baseball where the team is.”
Actually, it’s more of a trio. Subway graffiti disappears with the four-pitch walk.
