MILAN – Napoli lost to Inter Milan with a score of 2-3 in the follow-up game Italian League 2021/2022 which was held on Monday (22/11/2021) early in the morning WIB. Napoli coach, Luciano Spalleti, admitted that his team played no better than Inter.

According to the Italian coach, Parthenopei too predictable in the first 45 minutes. They lack the courage to take the initiative to create opportunities. As a result, Inter managed to turn things around before half-time with two goals each scored Hakan Calhanoglu and Ivan Perisic after previously trailing by Piotr Zielinski’s goal.

Despite losing, Spalleti praised the game of his men in the second half who appeared more creative. They also managed to score one goal through Dries Mertens to reply to the Nerazzurri’s third goal – the nickname Inter- which was born from the feet of Lautaro Martinez. In fact, the Partenopei could have equalized in the last minute of the match had Mario Rui’s chance not been thwarted by Samir Handanovic.

“We played much better in the second half, made some bolder choices and unexpected passes. In the first half, we were too predictable, we looked for solutions without character or inspiration, while we gave Inter too much room for counter-attacks. Football Italia, Monday (11/22/2021).

“I get angry if we don’t do what we need to do and I saw a lack of courage in the first half. We have to be brave and make bold choices if we are to challenge Inter and (AC) Milan for an important target (of the championship).

“We need to be tested with opponents who are at a higher level and I hope from now on we will have courage. We know that we deserve to be there (top of the table).”

The defeat to Inter saw Napoli earn their first zero points of the season. In fact, they had never lost before.

In addition, Kalidou Koulibaly and colleagues also failed to take advantage of opportunities to widen the distance from AC Milan who also lost to Fiorentina one day earlier. As a result, they still have the same points even though Napoli still lead the 2021/2022 Italian League standings because they are ahead on goal difference.
