NUSA DUA – Indonesian women’s doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi won the civil war in the first round Indonesia Open 2021. They defeated Nita Viola Marwah/Putri Syaikah 21-11 and 21-15 at the Bali Convention Center, Tuesday (11/23/2021).

This victory is also unfortunate considering that Indonesia had to lose one partner after meeting each other in the first round. However, Febriana/Amalia still tried their best to achieve positive results.

Moreover, Nita/Putri has a better ranking than Febriana/Amalia, which is 35 in the world. Meanwhile, Febriana/Amalia ranks 205 in the world. Therefore, the match became a proving ground for the runner-up of the World Junior Championships in 2019.

Febriana/Amalia also benefited when Putri received medical treatment for a knee problem. Febriana/Amalia did not waste this condition to put pressure on Nita/Putri, which eventually resulted in positive results.

The young Indonesian couple also admitted that Putri’s poor condition made them always target her. Even though Nita/Putri are friends themselves, Febriana/Amalia take advantage of this condition to win.

“If you have an opponent in the field, so try to make the best use of it,” said Amalia to MNC Portal Indonesia, Tuesday (23/11/2021).

“Outside we are friends again, on the field we really have to fight,” added Febriana.

Meanwhile, in the second round, Febriana/Amalia will be challenged by young Malaysian players who are on the rise, namely Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan. Febriana/Amalia also admitted that they would play with nothing to lose and put out all their best against the pair ranked 18th in the world.

“We don’t think about winning or losing, the important thing is that we play optimally, there is nothing to lose, the abilities we have, try to get it out, just enjoy playing,” closed Febriana.
