Padres land Robinson Cano a favorable move for San Diego

The San Diego Padres need a little help, and it looks like they’re turning to Robinson Cano for more production.

It never hurts to have a player who can hit home runs consistently and regularly throughout the season. That might be what the San Diego Padres recently signed for Robinson Cano.

While it may be unlikely that Cano would still be capable of doing so at this stage of his career, getting the 39-year-old to a manageable contract seems like another solid hit for a team that needs another. The golfer’s team benefits.

Cano, who is hitting a .195 batting average so far this season, was just waived by the Mets, but the Padres could use another bat.

This is very important news for Kano. As The Associated Press noted in its report, the New York Mets will pay Kano a sizable sum because he still owes him.

According to the Associated Press, San Diego will pay just $561,538 for Canó’s services. Meanwhile, the Mets will pay him the remainder of his salary this season and a total of $24 million next season.

That’s a lot of money for New York, but a great deal for the Padres.

San Diego Padres fans react after Padres land Robinson Cano

Some San Diego fans seem genuinely happy and optimistic about the news that the Padres are bringing Cano to town.

Of course, it’s worth noting again that the Padres didn’t quite break the bank to make this deal happen. So, this might be a good deal.

Still, some weren’t thrilled with the news and didn’t necessarily believe it would work out for the Padres.

We’ll see how this all plays out. The fact that San Diego didn’t spend a fortune to bring Kano to town makes this gamble fairly low-risk. Considering the fees the clergy pays, there’s not much that can really go wrong here.
