RussiaTaas news agency quoted a senior official as saying,RussiaWarned the United States that if Russia is declared a “state sponsor of terrorism”, diplomatic relations between the two countries would be seriously damaged, even to the point of a potential breakdown.
Alexander Darchiev, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s North American department, said if the US Senate goes ahead with its plan to target Russia, it would mean Washington has crossed a line and put the relationship in an irreversible state. TASS news agency reported.
Two US senators, seeking to pass a bill to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, visited Kyiv last month to join forces with the United States.UkrainePresident Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the bill.
According to the TASS report, Darsiyev said that if the bill is passed, it would cause “the most serious collateral damage, de-escalation or even breakdown of bilateral diplomatic relations.”
He also said that he had warned America about this.
Latvia’s parliament yesterday recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, calling on Western allies to impose more comprehensive sanctions on Moscow over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
