JEREZFranco Morbidelli satisfied with the results of the trial in preparation MotoGP 2022 at the Jerez Circuit, Friday (11/19/2021) early in the morning WIB. The Yamaha Monster Energy racer was perched in seventh position.

In the test, Morbidelli was one step ahead of his teammate, the 2021 MotoGP world champion, Fabio Quartararo. Morbidelli insists his team is focused on increasing the speed and power of the bike.

The test race at the Jerez Circuit is part of the preparations ahead of the 2022 MotoGP. Reflecting on the results of the race, Morbidelli said there were some improvements to the bike.

However, he does not deny that Yamaha still has to increase the power and speed of the YZR-M1 to compete with Ducati which is predicted to be terrible next season.

“There are some good steps forward,” said Morbidelli after the test race at the Jerez Circuit, quoted from Tuttomotoriweb Friday (11/19/2021).

“We need to see how much and if Ducati is improving. I’m happy with the first step forward the bike is making. We need power and speed, that’s what Yamaha is trying to improve.”

“They are working, everyone in the team knows what our weaknesses are and they are working on them. Already today there are some small steps forward,” he added confidently.

Morbidelli’s words are not without basis, the Ducati team did dominate in the race. Although Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) came out as the fastest, there are three Ducati riders who are perched in the top five.

The three riders were Johann Zarco (Ducati Pramac) in second, Enea Bastianini (Gresini Ducati) in third, and Francesco Bagnaia (Lenovo Ducati) in fourth. Therefore, Morbidelli certainly knows what Yamaha has to do to break that dominance in MotoGP 2022.
