34-year-old Shawn Porter stated that he would retire winning, losing or drawing against Crawford in their ESPN Pay-Per-View main event, partly because he had originally hoped to retire after a 12-round loss, a separate decision to Errol Spence Jr in September 2019 .

“I’m ready to retire,” said Porter. “I am ready to announce my retirement tonight, win, lose or draw. We have a date they told us we have to do it again (if Porter wins). I will never do it again. I’m announcing my retirement now,” said Shawn Porter.

Porter, who works as an analyst for FOX Sports, will leave boxing with a 31-4-1 record, including 17 KOs. Before Crawford knocked him out twice in the 10th round and stopped him, Porter had lost just three times in 12 competitive rounds to Kell Brook (majority in August 2014), Keith Thurman (unanimously in June 2016) and Spence.

Porter, proud of his accomplishments, decided to retire with his health and wealth intact. I know that Errol Spence Jr. will be my last fight, after 2017 I think that, when he won his championship [dari Kell Brook], said Porter.

”And I said he would be the last I fight. And after we fought, I had a feeling there was something else, and something else was Terence Crawford. I say win, lose or draw, it doesn’t matter – I’ve given a lot to this sport, from training to competition, and more practice. And after you’ve fought everyone above, what else do you do? I will not be a gatekeeper.”
