YORKSHIRE – Sheffield United made two big decisions in the midst of the ongoing competition. Firing club Slavisa Jokanovic from the coaching chair, then announced Paul Heckingbottom as his successor.

Slavisa Jokanovic was sacked after Sheffield United were knocked down to 16th place in the Championship standings. In 19 matches in the second tier of the Premier League, Sheffield have only picked up 6 wins, 5 draws and 8 defeats.

Jokanovic, from Serbia, is Sheffield United‘s first foreign coach. He served only six months before finally leaving.

In the last five matches, Slavisa Jokanovic’s team lost four. However, in the most recent match against Reading FC, last Wednesday (11/24/2021), Sheffield managed to win 0-1.

“Sheffield United and Slavisa Jokanovic have parted ways, with Paul Heckingbottom appointed as club football manager.” said Sheffield United‘s official statement, Thursday (25/11/2021).

Heckingbottom is no stranger to Sheffield. The 44-year-old English manager is the club’s coach at Under-23 level. He also served as interim coach when the club sacked Chris Wilder last season.
