Student at Perris Elementary School falls ill from food containing marijuana

Six students at Perris Enchanted Elementary School became ill after eating food containing marijuana, officials said.

Just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday, delegates responded to the school at 1357The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department told KTLA about Mount Baldy St. about multiple teenage students reporting food-related illnesses.

A survey revealed that a student brought food to school and then shared it with his peers. Officials said the edibles were believed to contain small amounts of cannabis products that the students in charge were unaware of.

A total of six students were taken to local hospitals for treatment as a precautionary measure and are expected to make a full recovery.

The sheriff’s department said it was an isolated incident.

“There is no reason for parents and students to continue to be concerned at this time,” the department added.

School officials are in the process of contacting the parents and/or guardians of the students involved.

KTLA reached out to the school on Friday for comment but had not received a response by press time.
