A man was arrested Wednesday after a homeless man was found stabbed to death in a field in Anaheim, officials said.
Jason Randall Dahl, 53, was found after a passerby reported a potentially deceased person in a field in the Phoenix Club Drive and Sanderson Drive area. Investigators believe Dahl was living in the area at the time.
Authorities believe the victim suffered at least one stab wound. It is unclear how long Dahl had been dead before being found by police. An autopsy is underway to determine when he died, Sgt. Jacob Gallagher of the Anaheim Police Department said.
Rolando Echenique, 36, also believed to be homeless, was found and detained by police near the crime scene on Thursday. He is being held at the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder, with bail set at $1 million.
Detectives declined to discuss a possible motive or how the two met.
