‘Tastes like a McMuffin’ Trade Joe’s Dutch waffles are going viral, limited to just one per person

social mediagoing viral recentlytrader Joe’sDemand for the new frozen food product at supermarkets is so high that Trader Joe’s has had to impose a one-piece limit per customer.

Trader Joe’s Dutch Grilled Cakes have frequently sold out since they launched last fall because they are so similar to McDonald’s breakfast McGriddles. Since then, many people have begun posting videos and photos on social media of themselves making a homemade McDonald’s-like breakfast using Trader Joe’s Dutch Waffles at home.

Due to limited supply,Gulf regionNow many Trader Joe’s supermarkets have begun limiting the number of purchases customers can make, stipulating that each person can only purchase one. These include stores in Alameda, Castro Valley, Monroe Park, San Jose, Sunnyvale and Walnut Creek.

Trader Joe’s in Berkeley and Palo Alto said that although they do not limit the number of customers, they only get one box (18 packs) per day, so it is basically first come, first served. The Emeryville store has been sold.

This isn’t the first time that Trader Joe’s products have become popular and in short supply. Last year, their Korean-style frozen seaweed sushi rolls (kimbap) were out of stock in the Bay Area after becoming popular online. Frozen nori sushi rolls are still popular with customers, and employees at Trader Joe’s in Mountain View and Berkeley said they are still limiting the amount customers can purchase.
