Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given a fitness update on midfield duo N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final with Liverpool.
The Blues are aiming to avoid a fourth defeat in six finals, including the first two against Arsenal and Leicester City.
Tuchel’s side will also seek revenge for their penalty defeat against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in February.
The Chelsea boss has given an update on two of his key midfielders ahead of the Wembley clash. Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference (according to Football.London) that Kovacic ended a dire challenge from Leeds United’s Dan James earlier this week:
“We’ll give it a try today. The medical department gave the green light to give it a try. “No new injuries, just excruciating pain, very swollen. So we hope that maybe time is enough for him to succeed. “
On Kante, the German boss claimed:
“The training sessions have been reduced due to the long trip and travel fatigue. We will try it with him today as well. He is hungry for success and hopefully he can train at 100%.”
