Undefeated Oak Christian advances to Division I softball semifinals

Regardless of any doubts some have about whether the undefeated Oaks Christian can conquer its challengers in the Southern Division 1 softball playoffs, it’s clear that the Lions are coming off one impressive postseason win after another. Respond to skeptics.

No. 1 seed Oaks Christian won his 31st straight game on Thursday and advanced to Saturday’s Division 1 semifinals with a 9-0 road win over Murrieta Mesa. Micaela Kastor continued her dominant pitch with 13 strikeouts. Leisl Osteen, Nani Arreola and Lily Knox each hit a home run. Knox had four home runs in the playoffs.

Oaks Christian will face Los Alamitos on Saturday. Los Alamitos hit four home runs in a 10-7 win over Camarillo.

In the other semifinal, Gal will face East Valley Roosevelt. Gal scored four runs in the seventh inning to beat the Orange Lutherans 7-3.
Malaia Huskey had an RBI single and Amanda Taamu had an RBI double to help break the 3-3 tie. Marley Cortez threw a five-inning clearance.

Garden Grove Pacifica scored four points in the seventh to tie Roosevelt 6-6. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Broncos won 7-6 on Emily Carr’s sacrificial flight.

Mission Viejo advanced to the Division 2 semifinals with a 6-0 victory over Don Lugo. Diablo will face Torrance, who beat Yucapa 5-4.
